Your Job in a Nutshell

As Head of Tax, you will lead the Luxembourg tax function: setting the group-aligned tax strategy, ensuring robust tax governance, delivering timely and accurate compliance and reporting, ultimately proactively supporting the business (including investments, restructurings and M&A). You will act as a trusted advisor to the CFO, the Executive Committee, and Group stakeholders.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will work in close collaboration with the remaining Finance organisation, but also the Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Investment departments, as well as with Group Legal stakeholders, when applicable.

You will also coordinate with external legal advisors, tax consultants, and auditors to ensure technical robustness and alignment with the group’s strategic objectives.

As a key stakeholder in cross-functional projects, you will be expected to contribute to internal working groups, steering committees, and governance initiatives related to tax and regulatory compliance.

What you can expect

Contract type: open-term, full-time

Tax strategy, governance & risk management:

Define and maintain the Tax Strategy and Tax Control Framework (roles, controls, KPIs, reporting to CFO/Executive Committee/Board) to elevate tax risk management and transparency
Implement and monitor the Policyholder Tax reporting framework, in close collaboration with the business
Monitor regulatory developments (ATAD, BEPS, DAC6/7/8, CESOP) and drive implementation plans across business lines

Pillar Two / GloBE readiness and compliance : lead Pillar Two local implementation in accordance with Group requirements and instructions, ensuring accurate minimum tax calculations and disclosures
Corporate tax compliance, reporting & provisioning

Oversee Luxembourg corporate tax filings and positions; manage ETR, deferred/uncertain tax positions under IFRS framework and participate to quarterly/year end tax reporting
Support audits (internal/external) and act as senior point of contact for authorities

Transfer pricing & intra group arrangements

Own local transfer pricing policy (financial flows, services,…) in close collaboration with the Group Tax, master/local files and benchmarking
Ensure arm’s length pricing, consistent documentation and dispute readiness

DAC6, FATCA/CRS & operational tax

Ensure DAC6 processes, hallmarks identification, and timely reporting
Maintain FATCA/CRS governance (register of actions, controls, oversight of outsourcing, audits by ACD; annual notifications and filings)

Insurance specific and indirect tax matters

Provide expert advice on insurance specific taxes, VAT/operational tax and deferred taxes impacting the insurance balance sheet
Partner with Investments/ALM on operational tax across portfolios (withholding tax, treaty relief, reclaims, process and vendor oversight)

Withholding tax relief & reclaim oversight

Drive the governance of WHT relief at source/reclaim processes and third party technology providers, ensuring control, documentation and efficiency

Tax technology & process improvement : evaluate and deploy tax technology (data pipelines, ERP/SAP integration, tax engines/BI) to automate compliance/reporting and strengthen controls.

What we expect

10+ years in corporate/international tax; strong experience in financial services/insurance or Big 4/audit/tax firms; proven leadership of a tax function
Master’s in Tax, Law, Accounting/Finance
Advanced knowledge of Luxembourg & EU tax, IFRS (IAS 12/IFRIC 23), transfer pricing, DAC6, FATCA/CRS, and Pillar Two; proven experience in the Insurance sector would be considered positively
Stakeholder skills: advising CFO/ExCo, managing advisors/auditors and authorities; excellent organisational skills and adherence to deadlines are a mandatory requirement
Languages: excellent English and proficiency in French; German and other major European languages are assets in our environment
