Role and responsibilities
As a Risk Analyst Intern, you will support the Risk Management Function (Second Line of Defence) in monitoring, analysing and strengthening the Company’s risk profile within a regulated and fast paced environment. Your role will combine a strong focus on quantitative risk analysis with contributions to operational risk management, internal control and governance activities across Baloise Assurances Luxembourg S.A., Baloise Vie Luxembourg S.A. and Baloise Life Liechtenstein AG.
Under the supervision of the Chief Risk Officer, and with guidance from the Risk team, you will be entrusted with specific projects and processes to lead. You will also provide hands-on support in the team’s ongoing initiatives and daily operations.
As a Risk Analyst Intern, you will actively support the team in delivering key activities across several domains:
- Contribute to the production and review of Quantitative Reporting Templates (QRTs) on a quarterly basis.
- Support the involvement of the Second Line Risk Function into the SCR Market calculation, control and oversight.
- Support the integration, documentation and execution of the Forward-Looking Solvency Position (FLSP) and Sensitivity modelling tool into the Risk Management Framework.
- Support the implementation of the revised of Solvency II Framework (Pilar I, II and III) for our three regulated entities;
- Support ALM (Asset-Liability Management) and investment risk monitoring.
- Assist in second-line independent risk analysis, including validation checks and data quality reviews.
- Support the team in the day-to-day execution of the Operational Risk Management and Internal Control Framework within the Organisation.
- Collaborate with first line risk owners to ensure consistent application of the Risk Management Framework (identify, assess, manage, monitor, and report risks).
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives related to risk culture, governance, and compliance.
- Contribute to regulatory monitoring and implementation support in line with evolving EIOPA and Solvency II requirements.
- Currently pursing a Master’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Actuarial Science or a related field.
- Strong interest in quantitative risk analysis, financial risk modelling and risk frameworks within a regulated environment.
- Basic knowledge of Solvency II is considered a strong asset.
- Familiarity with the insurance or financial services sector is advantageous.
- A collaborative team player with flexibility and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Fluent in English and French; German is considered an advantage.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- The candidate must be legally authorized to work or undertake an internship in Luxembourg and, where applicable, hold all necessary authorizations, permits, or documents required by the applicable Luxembourg legislation.
